American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Prepare yourself to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies by becoming an American Red Cross certified lifeguard. The purpose of the Lifeguard Training course is to teach the skills and knowledge needed to acquire certification. The course content and activities prepare lifeguard candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and other incidents. The course also teaches other skills an individual needs to become a professional lifeguard. This is a great course for young people who need a summer job! Get certified and spend your summer working by the pool. You must bring a swim suit, towel, pencil and paper to every class session. You must be at least 15 years of age to register and able to swim proficiently as determined by the instructor the first night of class. This course provides CPR and first aid certification upon successful completion of the requirements. The Lifeguard Training Participants Manual is included in the registration fee. Please note the May 14th class will be from 5:30-9 p.m. due to CPR training and will be held in room 102, Chappell Hall. A signed waiver of liability is required.
